Early Childhood Intervention and First Steps |

Indiana's First Steps and Bona Vista's Early Childhood Intervention program provide a system of early intervention for infants, toddlers and preschoolers with special needs. Early intervention involves parents, teachers, physicians, and therapists. Together this team develops a plan for each child that becomes the road map for the services the family and their young child will receive.

The delays/disorders must be assessed by two professional disciplines, for example, a physician and a physical therapist. They will then confirm the need for intervention to try to bring the child to the typical level of development. Through the Early Childhood Intervention program free developmental screenings are offered to the public four times a year.

First Steps is funded through existing services, local, state, and federal funding, Medicaid, and private insurance.
